Doxbridge 1st - 4th April 2013
The annual festival for collegiate teams in Dublin
Destination - Doxbridge
Take the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin and you'll be across the Irish Sea in a little over 3 hours and arrive fresh and ready to party! All the Doxbridge accommodation is smack bang in the middle of Dublin, all the great pubs and clubs of the city are here on your doorstep. The local 'craic' is legendary of course so you'll be charmed by the local hospitality. Here you can sample 1,000 years of culture, food, drink, verse and song in Ireland's capital city. The sports facilities are awesome as you'd expect with a strong local tradition in rugby and a passion for sporting competition. The splendid UCD sports complex hosts some of sports events, whilst the football tournament is played at the home of the Irish National youth teams on the immaculate grass pitches of the AUL (Athletic Union League). Dublin's a fantastic festival city with a wonderful student appeal - and its right here across the water.
“All the great pubs and clubs of the city are here on your doorstep”
The nightlife here is legendary. Our exclusive party nights are based at some of the very best venues in town including The Purty Kitchen, Club XX1 and Q Bar. Your Doxbridge wristband ensures not only free nightclub entries of course, but fantastic deals on drinks as well. We always negotiate the very best prices for our student teams - and you won't be disappointed! Away from the clubs there are plenty of pubs to choose from in and around Temple Bar and lots of restaurants too whether its fast food or a la carte you're after!
You'll be staying in the heart of downtown Dublin in one of the student-friendly hostels. They are all within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs. The rooms are simple but comfortable, with typically 2-10 persons sharing a small dorm. A packed breakfast can be provided in the morning and there are plenty of good restaurants and shops nearby for provisions. The self-catering kitchens are perfect for preparing snacks or evening dinner of course. Wherever you stay, as everything is close at hand, you'll never have too far to stagger back from the bars at the end of the evening.
As a busy capital city, Dublin has everything from the cinema to theatre, golf to bowling, darts to dance. There's history and culture in abundance. If you fancy making a reservation with your team, then here are some ideas:
The leading visitor attraction in Ireland, the core of the Guinness Storehouse building is modelled on a giant pint glass, stretching up from reception on the ground floor to The Gravity Bar in the sky. If filled, this giant pint would hold approximately 14.3 million pints of Guinness. Well, that's something to think about as you enjoy a drink and a panoramic view of the city.
Hard Rock Cafe
Enjoy a great evening out at the famous Hard Rock Cafe. A student-friendly meal awaits at this popular restaurant in the Temple Bar area of the city. The renowned atmosphere and selection of memorabilia from Bono, Jimi Hendrix and Madonna will make this the perfect prelude to a night on the town!
Our excellent team of reps will do everything they can to ensure you have a wonderful time on tour. In addition to our team of professional sports tournaments organisers and officials, our social and welfare reps in resort will be on hand in the hostels, bars and clubs. All our reps are trained and paid, so you can rest assured that they are not just here for a holiday. As many of them return year after year, we know that your tour is in very good hands indeed!
